Second Battle of Gettysburg
HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The state Gaming Control Board voted today to deny a license to a group that was seeking to build a slots casino and hotel near Gettysburg.
The Crossroads Gaming Group wanted to build a $300 million complex on a site about 4 miles away from the Civil War battlefield. It appears now that will not happen. However, the casino backers do have the right to appeal the board's decision. It's not clear yet whether they will do that.
DD's take on this . . . hey, I grew up in Gettysburg and I've been strongly opposed to any form of commercialism in or around my hometown for decades. This announcement comes as GREAT news!
