Doo Wop

I'm an avid 50's Doo Wop fan! Within this music niche, my favorite "sounds" are 5 part vocal harmonies, street corner Doo Wop, love ballads, and obscure groups/songs. At some point in this blog, I will attempt to post a Top 100 favorites list. And, if it's possible to include song samples in MP3 format, perhaps post them too.
The number one song on my list, and perhaps many other's as well, is a classic song by a Pittsburgh group called The Skyliners. The melody is slow tempo and is embellished with an orchestra background. The vocal harmony is exquisite. And now, the words of this million dollar seller from the summer of 1959 . . . you may have heard it in the backseat of your 1957 Chevy or in the backseat of your 1954 Ford Skyliner . . . they say this song was somewhat responsible for the baby boomer generation that followed . . .

This I Swear Is True
The Skyliners
This I swear is true . . .
My love for you will last . . .
Till time itself is through.
Oh my darling, oh my darling . . .
This I swear is true.
My heart is your's my dear . . .
There will be no one new . . .
Oh my darling, oh my darling . . .
This I swear is true.
I promise you . . .
That I will never make you cry . . .
This love will be eternally . . .
Cross my heart, and hope to die . . .
My lips will kiss, I vow . . .
Nobody else but you . . .
Oh my darling, oh my darling . . .
This I swear is true . . . this I swear . . .
This I swear is true.
