Quiet Storm . . . R&B/Soul Lyrics

My favorite music genre is Doo Wop but not far behind is R&B and Soul . . . naturally, they are close musical cousins, without getting into a music history lesson.

I have a modest 45 rpm collection from my youth (we talking late 50's and 60's stuff) that managed to survive a divorce, a flood, keg parties, etc. In the 1970's, I put all the music down on audio cassettes . . . great idea, but I think the records are outliving the cassettes, now 30+ years later. In more recent times, I've embarked on a quest to find my favorite Doo Wop and R&B songs on digital/CD format, an expensive proposition.

Every now an then, you luck out . . . like yesterday . . . I walk into an office that I've walked into a thousand times in my career with the company with whom yesterday was my final work day . . . and to my surprize, I see a pile of CDs stacked on a desk. It was a definitive collection of R&B and Soul music, in some instances albums by a specific artist/group (Chi-Lites, Delfonics, Dells, Eddie Holman, Dramatics, James Brown, etc.) and in other instances greatest hit collections by various artists . . . talk about the kid in the record shop syndrome!

I've worked out an arrangement to borrow a few of the CDs at a time to put the tracks down in my MP3 library. I used to listen to a local DJ every Sunday morning who did a show called "Quiet Storm" . . . the show is long gone but the quest to gather all my favorites he used to play has just begun!
