R&B/Soul Lyrics

Marvin Gaye . . . an extraordinary Motown artist of the 60's and 70's, started out with an obscure group (The Originals) with strong ties to the era of streetcorner doo wop. Of all of the songs performed by The Originals, the easy favorite for me is one called: Baby I'm For Real
This is one of those classic love ballads where the music hums along soulfully, and then "redlines" or peaks at the end . . .

Baby, baby . . .
You don't understand . . .
How much I love you baby . . .
And how much I want to be your only man . . .
Oh baby . . .

Baby, baby . . . baby . . .
You don't have to go . . .
Stay a little while longer baby . . .
I want to talk to you just a little more . . .
Oh baby . . .

I see the little tears in your eyes . . .
About to form . . . you are wondering . . .
If I am for real . . .
But if you cry, wonder why you cry . . .
I tell you, this is how I feel . . .
Oh baby . . .

Baby I'm for real . . . baby I'm for real . . .
Baby I'm for real . . .

But if you want to know the truth about it . . .
I just can't live without you . . .
Give it a chance . . .
So I can I live my whole life with you . . .

Baby, baby, baby . . . Darling . . .
Never, never gonna leave you . . .
Baby, I'm for real . . .
